Essential works to upgrade the Toberdaly Water Treatment Plant in County Offaly are set to commence tomorrow, Uisce Éireann has announced.
The necessary interruption to supply, which will occur from 8am to 8pm, will allow for the installation of a new pump that serves to enhance the reliability of the water supply and result in significant energy savings.
Operations Manager for Offaly, James Joyce, said: "Every effort will be made to reduce the impact of these works on homes and businesses in the area.
"The essential upgrade to the pump at Toberdaly Water Treatment Plant is required to help protect the reliability of the supply to the local community while also improving the plant's energy efficiency.
"We understand the impact a supply disruption can have on customers and would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation during the works."
Customers in Jonestown, Thomastown, Ballybrittan, Ballyheashill, Monasteroris, Clonmore, Rathcobican, Rhode and the surrounding areas may experience reduced water pressure to facilitate these works.
In some instances, particularly in higher elevations, intermittent water outages may also occur. Alternative water supplies will be in place at Rhode Village Hall.
