Northern Ireland construction firm GRAHAM has been awarded a significant contract by Surrey County Council to deliver essential improvements to the A320 north of Woking highway.
This is a key infrastructure project funded through Homes England's Housing Infrastructure Fund.
The scheme, designed to enhance capacity and improve traffic flow on the crucial stretch of road between Chertsey and Ottershaw, is expected to unlock future housing developments across the Runnymede area. The improvements are part of wider efforts to support regional growth and facilitate local development.
Discussing the contract award, Gareth McLaverty, Project Director at GRAHAM, said: "GRAHAM is delighted to be delivering this transformative scheme on behalf of Surrey County Council and Runnymede Borough Council.
"We look forward to playing our role in delivering this high-quality infrastructure scheme that will benefit both residents and businesses in the region for years to come."
The A320 North of Woking scheme will see major upgrades to four key junctions and two road connections. The plans also include safety and accessibility enhancements, such as wider footpaths, new cycleways, improved pedestrian crossing points and better access to public transport. These changes are intended to alleviate congestion while encouraging more sustainable travel options for local residents, cyclists and pedestrians.
The contract has been awarded under the GEN 5 Southern Highways and Civils Framework, with work set to play a crucial role in supporting both the local infrastructure and housing growth in the region.
