GMC Utilities Group is currently carrying out a programme of works on behalf of Uisce Éireann to provide a more reliable water supply in County Kildare.
To date, 1.3km of water mains have been replaced to reduce high levels of leakage and ensure a reduction in disruption from bursts and supply interruptions to the community of Allenwood.
Programme Manager for Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, Nicola Butler, said: "Replacing these problematic water mains will eliminate existing leaks and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground. We would like to thank the residents in Allenwood for facilitating these works and working with us to provide a more secure and reliable water supply for generations to come."
This significant project for the people of Allenwood will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply.
To safely facilitate these works, a stop-go traffic management plan will continue along the R415 between Allen Reservoir and Allen Cross for the duration of the works.
Working hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Uisce Éireann expects these works to be completed by early Q3 2025.
