A new 110 kV electricity station in Deenes, County Meath, has been connected to the national grid as part of the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme 2. The project also marks the energisation of the Gaskinstown Solar Farm, which is expected to add 85 MW of capacity to the grid once fully operational.
The successful energisation is the result of a collaborative effort between EirGrid, ESB Networks, and Highfield Energy Services Limited, with H&MV Engineering acting as the main contracting partner.
This development is seen as a significant step towards achieving Ireland's climate goals by increasing the amount of renewable energy on the grid. Industry stakeholders have emphasised the importance of continued collaboration to facilitate further progress in this area.
