Cork City Council, in partnership with OBR Developments Ltd, has officially launched the Affordable Housing Scheme at Glenmore Heights, Lehenaghmore.
This marks the second initiative of its kind in the south-west of the city, aimed at helping eligible buyers onto the property ladder.
The Glenmore Heights scheme features 45 homes, comprising 24 three-bedroom semi-detached units, 11 three-bedroom mid-terrace homes, two two-bedroom end-of-terrace units, and eight two-bedroom mid-terrace houses. These properties will be made available to qualifying applicants at approximately 20% below open market value. For instance, a three-bedroom mid-terrace home will be available from €310,000, while a two-bedroom mid-terrace unit will start from €280,000.
The homes are primarily intended for first-time buyers who currently do not own any property, although exceptions are in place for 'Fresh Start' applicants.
This latest development continues Cork City Council's commitment to delivering on national affordable housing targets set out in the Government’s ‘Housing for All’ plan. Glenmore Heights follows a series of successful affordable housing launches across the city, including Newton Heights in Boherboy Road, Cluain Chaoin in Tower, Crann Darach in Montenotte, Ardrostig in Bishopstown, Heathfield in Ballincollig, Danesfort in Whites Cross, and most recently Seaberry Drive in Grange.
Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Dan Boyle, said: "As a local authority, we are committed to delivering high quality affordable homes for the people of Cork. This new scheme, the eighth scheme to launch under the Affordable Housing initiative, demonstrates the ongoing work that Cork City Council is doing to deliver housing for the people of Cork. I want to thank both OBR Developments Ltd. and the Housing Directorate for their work in delivering this much anticipated project."
Located near the N27 and within a 15-minute walk from the suburbs of Togher and Wilton, the A2 energy-rated, architecturally designed homes at Glenmore Heights are expected to generate strong interest from prospective buyers.
