SSE Thermal has launched this year's Community Investment Fund in Great Island, County Wexford.
SSE Thermal's fleet of flexible power stations and gas storage sites play a crucial role in keeping the lights on across the country and this fund, now in its second consecutive year, aims to enhance the lives of local residents, school children, young people, businesses and the environment, while strengthening SSE Thermal's relationship with the communities around where it operates.
Community groups can apply for a share of £25,000 per site, to be used within the local area to help benefit projects and charities in need of support, with up to £2,000 being allocated to each individual project.
Community Investment Fund Manager at SSE Thermal, Jayne Collings, said: "We are delighted to be delivering our Community Investment Fund for the second year.
"Last year, we made a real difference to the communities located near our sites, granting over £130,000 to 78 community projects, and we will look to replicate this through further funding this year.
"At SSE Thermal, we strive to be a good neighbour, and the Community Investment Fund is only one way we support local organisations.
"We are committed in making a real difference to our communities and are excited to see the benefits and opportunities this year's fund can bring to our local people."
Applications for the Great Island Community Fund are now open and can be found here.
