SSE Airtricity has entered into a pioneering Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with Ireland's leading retail, wholesale and foodservice company Musgrave Group.

This first-of-its-kind agreement spans both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, supplying renewable electricity to over 100 SuperValu and Centra stores.

The partnership will see Musgrave sourcing 100% renewable energy from two wind farms—Bessy Bell 2 in County Tyrone and Richfield Wind Farm in County Wexford. Both sites are owned and operated by SSE Renewables, a sister company of SSE Airtricity. The clean energy generated at Bessy Bell 2 will be directed towards powering Musgrave's facilities in Northern Ireland, including the company's regional offices, four distribution centres, and 43 retail outlets operating under the SuperValu and Centra banners.

By securing a long-term supply of renewable electricity, Musgrave is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also managing energy costs more effectively and mitigating the risks associated with energy market volatility.

SSE Airtricity's CPPA framework is designed to support businesses in their transition to net zero by offering reliable, cost-stable renewable energy solutions. For Musgrave, this agreement is a critical component of its pledge to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2040.
