The next phase of the Poddle Flood Alleviation Scheme will commence in Ravensdale Park in Kimmage, County Dublin, on Monday, May 20.
The vital defence works will require closing the northern end of the park along Ravensdale Park and Ravensdale Drive for approximately 12 months.
As a result, the pedestrian entrances at the Builders Providers and at the Ravensdale Park will be closed.
The entrance at Kimmage Rd Lower will remain open to accommodate the walking route from Kimmage Rd West, but the pathway from the Kimmage Rd Lower to the Builders Providers will be closed.
Discussing the impact of the works, a statement from South Dublin County Council said: "We apologise in advance for the inconvenience that this will cause but we will strive to get this area of the park reopened as soon as we can."
