A brand-new play park has officially opened at Fisherwick in Ballymena, County Antrim, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has announced.
Works carried out by County Down-based Garden Escapes include senior and junior multi-play units, inclusive roundabout, swings, summer seating and an accessible picnic bench.
The new play park was developed following community consultation, which helped shaped this provision for children of all abilities.
Discussing the opening of the play park, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman William McCaughey, said: "Council takes the importance of play seriously and recognises how important it is for the health and wellbeing of our children and young people.
"Establishing better quality play parks is part of our wider ambition to ensure that communities have a real sense of identity and place, and that everyone can enjoy them."
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are committed to providing safe, accessible and inclusive play parks across the borough with annual investment in play parks in line with the council's Out to Play Strategy and Play Investment Framework which is developed in consultation with elected members and information provided from local community.
