A third burst in quick succession on the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme in County Tipperary has been repaired, Uisce Éireann has announced.

Water crews worked tirelessly over the weekend to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses served by the network, meanwhile, alternative water supplies remained in place in Emly, Limerick Junction and Cullen until this morning (Tuesday, May 20).

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Pierce Faherty, Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann, stated: "Following a third unplanned outage on the Galtee Supply on Saturday (May 17) evening, our water services crews were dispatched immediately. The team made every effort to restore supply as soon as possible, and repairs were completed on Sunday."

While supply has returned to the majority of customers, those at the outskirts of the network and those on higher ground may experience low pressure as water begins to return.
