Ward and Burke Construction Ltd has successfully completed major upgrades to the Castleisland water supply in County Kerry, Uisce Éireann has announced.

The works, which were carried out on behalf of the utility company as part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, included the replacement of 3.3 kilometres of aged watermains. This vital upgrade will ensure a more reliable water supply for homes, businesses and future generations to come in the area, and is critical in conserving precious water resources.

Jack Cronin, Programme Manager, Uisce Éireann said: "We are delighted to have completed this project for the community in Castleisland. These essential mains upgrades will reduce leakage, eliminate the challenges associated with old watermains and improve the resilience of the network resulting in a positive impact on leakage and the daily lives of the residents of Castleisland."

He thanked all stakeholders including residents, business owners, elected representatives, and the media for their support during the five-month project.
