Cantwell Electrical Engineering Limited has successfully completed works as part of a €1 million investment on the Killaloe Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in County Clare, Uisce Éireann has announced.
The upgrades, carried out on behalf of the utility company, will future proof the local water supply for years to come and have ensured compliance with Drinking Water Regulations.
The works form part of the National Disinfection Programme. Disinfection is an important part of the water treatment process. The disinfection process eliminates harmful organisms in water. Elements of this process were nearing the end of their design life at Killaloe WTP, highlighting to Uisce Éireann the need for investment in this community.
Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, John Hickey, celebrated the completion of works, stating: "One thousand eight hundred customers in Killaloe, Co Clare, are now promised a more secure supply for years to come. I am pleased to say the upgrade of Killaloe Water Treatment Plant is complete. The disinfection process is a critical element in the treatment of drinking water, that ensures we all have access to a safe and reliable supply."
Uisce Éireann thanked the local community for their patience and support while this project was completed.
