Priority Construction Ltd Completes Bloodmill Road Extension

The Bloodmill Road Extension has officially opened following the successful completion of a major infrastructure scheme delivered by Priority Construction Ltd on behalf of Limerick City and County Council.

The project was formally opened by the Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, marking a significant milestone in the city's transport infrastructure development.

Commencing on October 28, 2024, and opened to the public in March 2025, the scheme involved the realignment and extension of the existing Bloodmill Road to connect with the newly constructed link road to the east. This strategic connection now provides improved access to key developments, including Educate Together Secondary School, the forthcoming Bon Secours private hospital and Medical Diagnostics facility, and the Lidl retail unit on adjacent zoned lands.

Delivered to high engineering and safety standards, the scheme includes comprehensive Active Travel infrastructure, offering dedicated pedestrian and cycle facilities, in line with national efforts to promote sustainable transport modes.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, officially opened the new road and commented: "In only two months, we have already seen the positive impact the Bloodmill Road Extension project it is having on the community. It has improved connectivity to essential services and new developments while also contributing to our long-term vision of a more sustainable Limerick."

Cathaoirleach of the Metropolitan District of Limerick, Cllr Kieran O'Hanlon added: "The opening of the Bloodmill Road Extension is a fantastic occasion for our community. This project not only enhances our local infrastructure but also demonstrates our commitment to creating a safer, more accessible environment for all residents."
