Shareridge Progresses Water Works In Clonmel

Shareridge is continuing to progress a significant investment by Uisce Éireann on the Clonmel water supply in County Tipperary.

Works have now been completed on the Fethard Road, while watermain installation works are ongoing on the Cashel Road in coordination with the Active Travel Scheme, and along the L-3279 Rathronan to Clashaniska Road.

The next phase of the project will see works commence on Thomas Street from June 9, in the vicinity of the train station carpark.

Commenting on the progress, Uisce Éireann Programme Manager, Darragh Hannon, said: "We are delighted to see this vital project progress to this stage. Once complete, the new water infrastructure will deliver lasting benefits for the people of Clonmel and surrounding areas, providing a safer, more secure water supply for years to come. We'd like to thank the community for their patience as we move into this next phase of works."

As well as the installation of the new water main, the project involves an upgrade to the treatment facilities at Monroe Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and upgrades to the Rathronan Pump Station which will connect the Monroe supply to the Clonmel North reservoir and Poulavanogue network. The project will address water quality risks for customers on the town’s Poulavanogue supply, allowing it to be taken off the EPA's Remedial Action List.

A road closure is in place on the L-3279 Rathronan to Clashaniska Road. A Stop/Go traffic management system will also be in operation in the area of the works at the train station carpark on Thomas Street from June 9.
