Over €300k in funding has been secured for construction projects in County Sligo under the nationwide Community Recognition Fund.
Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, made the announcement for the Sligo area alongside €17 million for 212 community projects across the country.
The Sligo projects which will benefit from the fund include:
• Arrow Harps Football Club CLG, Riverstown – Installation of pitch floodlighting (€88,128);
• Ballygawley Community Park CLG, Ballygawley – Purchase existing amenity park in Ballygawley village (€65,000);
• Sligo County Council, Sligo Town – Upgrade of Play Zone within Mitchell Curley Park (€60,000);
• Coolaney Development Company CLG, Coolaney – Upgrade of community play space at Coolaney Community Park (€56,461);
• Eastern Harps GAA Club CLG, Keash – Construction of a permanent storage facility (€53,950).
This latest announcement, the third round of projects supported under the 2024 fund, will bring real and tangible benefits to towns and villages across the country, enhancing local amenities and promoting inclusive community development.
Minister Calleary said: "The Community Recognition Fund continues to support the cities, towns and villages that welcomed new arrivals to their communities in recent years. This funding has enabled communities to be more inclusive and resilient through the provision and enhancement of a range of community facilities and community spaces."
