A major £5.5 million water infrastructure improvement scheme in the Pomeroy and Carrickmore areas of County Tyrone is making strong progress, according to NI Water. Delivered by contractors Farrans Glanua, the scheme began in early May and is set to continue until January 2027.
The large-scale investment aims to significantly boost the resilience of the local water network and enhance the quality of drinking water for residents across the region.
Currently, pipelaying works are underway along Termon Road in Carrickmore under a temporary lane closure. The project will then move to several other roads in the wider area, including:
• Tremogue Road
• Loughmallon Road
• Devesky Road
• Creggan Road
• Tiroony Road
• Whitebridge Road
The work will be completed in phases to minimise disruption. NI Water has confirmed that access will be maintained for residents living within the active construction zones.
Gary McFadden, NI Water Project Manager, said: "I am delighted to announce that this major £5.5m Water Infrastructure Improvement scheme is progressing well. This is an important pipeline for the Pomeroy and Carrickmore areas of County Tyrone, which will ensure the ongoing provision of high-quality drinking water and security of supply to our customers in the area.
"I would like to thank the NI Water project team including our Customer & Operations colleagues, as well as our contractor Farrans Glanua JV for ensuring that this essential improvement work continues with minimal disruption to customers.
"We thank the public for their continued patience and cooperation, as there may be some delays in the area. The work will help deliver a more resilient, improved water supply network and help safeguard the local drinking water supply for many years to come."
