Work has commenced on a new 21,000 sq. ft purpose-built facility for Sepha, a global leader in pharmaceutical packaging testing, located on the Comber Road in Dundonald, County Down.
The new headquarters is scheduled for completion in late 2025 and Sepha will be the anchor tenant at the development. The facility will consolidate the company's research and development, production and office functions into a single modern building designed to support its international operations.
Councillor Claire Kemp, Chair of Regeneration and Growth Committee, has welcomed the announcement of major investment in Lisburn and Castlereagh: "Sepha's investment in a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Dundonald is a fantastic boost for our local economy.
"This significant development not only secures high-quality jobs in the area but also demonstrates strong confidence in Dundonald as a thriving location for innovation and advanced manufacturing.
"We welcome continued commitment to the community, which will help drive further regeneration, support local businesses and position Lisburn and Castlereagh as a key hub for growth and investment well into the future."
Established in Northern Ireland in 1980, Sepha manufactures equipment used to test the integrity of pharmaceutical packaging. Its non-destructive, solvent-free technology is used by pharmaceutical companies in over 70 countries. The company also produces medical packaging solutions and designs machines that recover valuable pharmaceutical products from blister packs for reuse by manufacturers.
Sepha Managing Director, Paul Smith, added: "We're proud to be making a significant investment in a new headquarters within the Lisburn & Castlereagh Council area. We're especially pleased to remain in Dundonald, where Sepha has been based for many years, and to strengthen our commitment to the local economy and community we value so highly.
"This purpose-built facility will bring all our teams together under one roof, fostering greater collaboration and supporting innovation as we continue to grow internationally. We regularly welcome visitors from across the USA, EU, and Asia, and this location offers excellent access to Belfast City Airport and the city centre, while also benefiting from the great hospitality in East Belfast.
"Importantly, remaining close to our existing premises allows us to retain our highly skilled team, ensuring continuity as we move forward. The option to build on the Comber Road site catered for all of these needs, providing the ideal base to showcase our engineering excellence and reinforce our commitment to creating high quality jobs and opportunities here in Northern Ireland."
