Residents and businesses in Limerick City can expect a more reliable and secure water supply as Uisce Éireann has completed the replacement of over one kilometre of aging water mains along Brookville Avenue.
The project, which began in March 2025, was undertaken as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme. The old infrastructure, known to be prone to frequent bursts and leaks, has now been replaced with modern, durable piping, marking a significant upgrade to the city’s water network.
Marking the completion of the works, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Brian McCarthy, said: "I look forward to seeing Limerick City thrive with the benefits these new water mains bring. These works form part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to upgrade infrastructure and provide great benefits to the community in Limerick City. The replacement of these old, damaged pipes will significantly lower the instances of bursts, outages, and leakage on the network and provide a more secure water supply for years to come. I would like to extend my thanks to the local community for their patience while we carried out these works."
The next phase will involve the reinstatement of the permanent road surface, which will be scheduled and carried out in coordination with Limerick City Council.
Contractors Ward and Burke completed the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
