Vital improvements are set to be made in early August to the electricity network in the Dromore, Hillsborough and Banbridge areas of County Down, NIE Networks has announced.
This work, which will maintain and upgrade a key part of overhead line infrastructure in the locality, involves replacing approximately 50km of overhead conductors, pole changes and some tree cutting if necessary and may last for an estimated 12 months.
This major investment is essential to ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for both domestic and business customers in the future.
In a statement, NIE Networks said: "We are committed to working collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to ensure the success of our projects while addressing the needs of all involved. NIE Networks and contracting partners will be in contact with all landowners prior to works prospectively commencing to discuss any concerns or queries that you may have."
The work will require a number of planned interruptions to the electricity supply, however, NIE Networks has said "we will do everything we can to keep these to a minimum. Advance notification will be given if electricity supply will is affected. We understand that planned supply interruptions may cause inconvenience, and we thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we carry out these essential upgrades."
