Works are currently ongoing to replace 2.1km of ageing water mains with modern pipes in Tullow, County Carlow, Uisce Éireann has announced.
These upgrades will significantly reduce water loss, improve pressure and enhance the overall resilience of the water network serving homes and businesses in the area. The works are approaching the two-thirds mark, with almost 1.4km of the water mains now replaced.
Speaking about the works, Dave Murphy, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "We are delighted with the progress made on this project and would like to thank the people of Tullow for their continued patience and support as these essential town centre works continue. The project remains on track to be completed by September 2025.
"We are committed to delivering a more secure and reliable water supply to communities across Ireland. These ongoing works in Tullow Town are part of that effort, ensuring fewer disruptions, improved water quality, and a network that’s fit for the future."
To date works have been completed on Bridge Street, Mill Street, Market Square, John Street, Bishops St and old Chapel Lane. Works are currently underway on Chapel Lane with construction set to progress to Cross Keys and The Course from Tuesday, August 5.
