Applications have now opened for the second round of funding for the East Cavan Monaghan Community Benefit Fund, SSE Renewables has announced.
This second call for applications places a strong focus on projects which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including initiatives that cut carbon emissions, protect biodiversity, and promote sustainable living. Projects that enhance community wellbeing – such as creating inclusive spaces, offering education and training opportunities, or developing tourism-focused social enterprises – are also encouraged.
The fund supports not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and social enterprises located within 20 kilometres of SSE Renewables' Bindoo and Gartnaneane Wind Farms in County Cavan and Mullananalt Wind Farm in County Monaghan.
Applications from outside this area will also be considered if they clearly benefit communities within the Area of Benefit.
Discussing the Fund, Jacqueline Durnin, Community Investment Manager at SSE Renewables, said: "SSE Renewables is proud to have invested over €2.4 million in local communities across Cavan and Monaghan since 2001. With this second round of funding there is over €70,000 available. So, we're especially keen to support large-scale, high-impact projects that will deliver lasting benefits. If your community group is ready to take the next exciting step in its journey, I urge you to apply."
Applications will remain open until Friday, October 17. For more details and to apply to the Second Round Funding Call of the Cavan and Monaghan Community Fund visit: sserenewables.com/CavanMonaghanFund
