A burst water main in Swinford, County Mayo, was successfully repaired yesterday, Uisce Éireann has confirmed.
Normal supply has now been restored to customers who were affected by the unplanned outage.
Uisce Éireann's Ronan McDonnell thanked residents and businesses in the area for their patience while crews carried out the repair works: "We are cognisant that Siamsa Sraide, the town's annual festival, is taking place this week and we understand how difficult this unplanned outage was for our customers in Swinford today. We appreciate their support as our crews worked to return a normal water supply as quickly as possible."
While the network was recharging an alternative water supply was made available on Market Street, outside Horkan's Public House on Main Street and at Swinford Garda Station.
During instances such as these, customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
