Uisce Éireann has announced a programme of essential works to the water network in Athlone, which will necessitate a planned water outage for some customers.
The works will take place between 9am and 5pm on Monday, 18 August, and Tuesday, 19 August. The outage may result in supply disruptions for customers on Cartrontroy Road, Killyon Hill, and Retreat Heights.
According to Uisce Éireann's Donal O'Connor, crews will complete the work as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply.
"We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and thank customers in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential works," he said.
Typically, it takes between two and three hours for normal supply to return to all customers following repairs, though it may take longer for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. Customers can find updates on the Uisce Éireann Supply and Service map using reference number WME00097371.
Updates are also available via the company's website, X channel (@IWCare), and through its customer care helpline on 1800 278 278.
