Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council is set to undertake major redevelopment works on Layd Path in Cushendall, County Antrim.
The project will include the replacement of timber boardwalks, installation of new steps, upgrades to existing steps, and enhancements to interpretation along the route. The pathway has been closed since November 14, 2024, due to the structural failure of its timber boardwalks, which had reached the end of their lifespan.
The redevelopment is being supported through the PEACEPLUS Partnership, which has included Layd Path as a capital project in the local PEACEPLUS Action Plan.
Council officials are currently scoping all necessary works, including the replacement of infrastructure destroyed by a malicious fire during the summer of 2025. A tender is being prepared for the appointment of a contractor, with construction set to begin once the contract is awarded.
