Emily Square in Athy has undergone extensive redevelopment and upgrade works, led by Kildare County Council and supported through co-funding from the Government of Ireland and the European Union's Just Transition Fund.
The project will reach completion this week, with the upgraded square reopening to the public tomorrow (Friday, September 12).
The official reopening event will unveil the extent of the enhancements to the public space, as well as striking new public art features, murals and the restoration of significant heritage features.
To mark the reopening, Kildare County Council will host an afternoon programme of entertainment in Emily Square from 3pm to 6pm on the day. The event will include performances by Sing and Sign Choir, MOA (Made of Athy) and Jack L, giving the community the opportunity to gather and experience the newly completed works.
