Tuam's historic Station House is set for a major redevelopment following confirmation of €6.6 million in funding.

Galway County Council will oversee the transformation of the long-vacant building on Vicar Street, bringing it back into active use as a modern enterprise and social hub.

The works will see the derelict structure redeveloped into a high-quality facility with co-working areas, innovation spaces, and capacity for events. The project is part of the wider Tuam Regeneration Strategy and has been designed to retain the Station House’s historic character while adapting the space to meet the needs of business and community use today.

Funding has been made available under THRIVE, a scheme that supports the renewal of disused heritage buildings in regional centres. The Station House project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, and forms part of the Northern and Western Regional Programme.

All works must meet the conditions of the scheme, which include adhering to the principles of the New European Bauhaus—ensuring that the redevelopment is sustainable, inclusive, and sympathetic to its surroundings.
