The extension and refurbishment of the Jim Lynch Community Building in Letterkenny, County Donegal, has been officially completed and opened.

The project was delivered with funding of €300,000 under the Community Centre Investment Fund, supporting the ongoing upgrade and modernisation of community facilities across Donegal.

The work on the Jim Lynch Community Building has provided additional space for local groups, new changing rooms for clubs, and upgraded facilities to better accommodate community, health, and educational activities. The extension ensures the building can continue to meet the needs of the town's growing population while offering more flexibility for hosting events and services.

Speaking at the opening, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, said: "I am delighted to see the great work completed through the €300,000 in funding that was provided by my Department through the 2022 Community Centre Investment Fund towards the extension of this community facility, and I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has made this possible.

"The refurbishment works completed here in Letterkenny will allow additional space to be available for community groups, health groups and education groups. The new changing rooms will benefit local clubs and offer better planning for managing events."

The Community Centre Investment Fund, first introduced in 2022, has supported upgrades, refurbishments, and new builds across the country, with over €4.6 million allocated to community centres in Donegal alone.
