Shareridge Ltd, working on behalf of Uisce Éireann, has commenced a significant programme of water main upgrades in Clonmel, County Tipperary, as part of ongoing investment in the town's water infrastructure.

The project will replace over 1.4 kilometres of ageing water mains with modern, durable pipes designed to improve water quality, reduce leakage and strengthen the resilience of the local network.

The works form part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme and are aimed at providing customers with a more reliable and efficient water supply.

Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, Dave Murphy, said the project will bring clear operational benefits to the area: "As well as an improvement in the quality of water coming from their taps, customers can look forward to a more reliable supply and fewer operational issues such as bursts and leaks on the network.

"These works will also help us to drive down levels of leakage on the network and to conserve our precious water resources. We wish to thank the local community in Clonmel for their patience and co-operation while these works are underway."

Work begun today (October 13) on Kickham Street, with night works planned to minimise disruption. The project will then move through Upper Gladstone Street, Catherine Street, Morton Street, William Street, Cashel Street, Bolton Street and Mary Street over the coming months.

This scheme is part of Uisce Éireann's continued commitment to improving Clonmel's water network. Alongside these upgrades, further investment is underway at local water treatment plants to enhance the long-term security and reliability of the town's water supply.
