Farrans Construction hosted a unique Construction Pumpkin Carving Workshop this week, welcoming a group of local children to one of their NI Water sites.

The event was part of the company's commitment to delivering social value and inspiring the next generation in the construction industry.

The workshop engaged children who live locally to the ongoing project works. The young participants were provided with construction-themed cutters to help them design and carve their own pumpkins. The completed designs were illuminated with tea lights, bringing the children’s creations to life.

The event was facilitated by Farrans' Stakeholder and Social Value team, which aims to ensure the company leaves a positive, lasting legacy in all areas where they operate. By introducing construction-based activities early, the company hopes to encourage children to consider future careers in the sector.

To promote sustainability, every child received a bag of pumpkin pulp to take home, along with a poster providing ideas for reusing their pumpkin after Halloween, including recipes for soup or curry, or repurposing it as a bird feeder.
