A new chapter for one of South Dublin's largest public parks was marked this week as the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr. Pamela Kearns, officially opened the Tymon Park Centre.

The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, with Mayor Kearns joined by Chief Executive Colm Ward, Director of Services Teresa Walsh, fellow councillors, council staff, and invited guests to celebrate the completion of the much-anticipated community facility.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Cllr. Pamela Kearns said: "Tymon Park Centre is a new public building and café, designed to provide flexible meeting spaces for small to medium size events and activities for the local community.

"This is a long awaited and hugely welcomed facility for the area providing an area for the community to meet and mingle, indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the lake, accessibility enhancements and facilities for park users."

Funded through South Dublin County Council's three-year capital budget, the project was developed through collaboration between the Council’s Parks and Architect Sections, with design by architects Cotter & Naessens Ltd. Construction was carried out by James Oliver Hearty and Sons Ltd.

The new Tymon Park Centre includes a café, The Park House Café, now open to the public and operated by Éala, offering coffee and light snacks throughout the day.
