Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to homes and businesses in Ballysadare after a second burst on a water main on Main Street caused further disruption.
Teams had already altered the network to reduce impact on customers and had isolated a leak near The Grotto on the Ballina Road, which had led to supply issues the previous day. However, a new burst on Main Street has now affected additional properties across the town.
Repair works are scheduled to begin this evening to ensure the safety of workers, road users and the public, as daytime traffic volumes remain high. A traffic management plan will be implemented near the roundabout at Main Street, the Sligo Road and Union Road.
An alternative water supply continues to be available at The Grotto, where customers are asked to bring their own containers and boil any water taken from bowsers before drinking, as a precaution.
Kevin Love of Uisce Éireann said: "We understand the inconvenience this is causing, and our teams are working to restore the water supply as quickly possible. Ballysadare Main Street is very busy with traffic and pedestrians during peak hours which is why our repair works will take place this evening to minimise disruption as much as possible. Once normal operations are restored, it will take three to four hours for the network to refill and normal supply to return to all customers."
