Coffey has appointed Stuart Smith as Chief Financial Officer, strengthening the firm's senior leadership as it pursues long-term growth and delivers complex, high-impact infrastructure across Ireland and the UK.
The move underscores the company's focus on resilient, well-governed and future‑ready operations as it scales in water, energy and civil infrastructure. It also reflects Coffey's commitment to the systems and leadership capacity needed to support sustainable growth and consistent project delivery.
Smith brings over 15 years' senior finance experience across industry and professional services, with leadership roles at Linesight, Kerry Group, Applegreen and EY. His background spans strategic financial planning, governance, operational performance and investment decisions — expertise that will be vital as Coffey expands its footprint and capabilities.
Based in Tipperary, Smith has worked predominantly in the Irish market, complemented by earlier experience in the UK. This blend of local knowledge and international perspective will support Coffey’s delivery across multiple jurisdictions and its strengthening presence in both Ireland and the UK.
As CFO, Smith will oversee Finance, HR, IT, Plant and Property. Aligning financial strategy with people development, digital capability and asset management, he will help ensure Coffey can deliver safely, efficiently and at scale while maintaining strong governance and operational excellence.
"Stuart's appointment is an important step in strengthening our leadership team as Coffey continues to grow," said Odran. "He brings a strong combination of strategic financial expertise and practical experience in supporting high-growth organisations. This will be critical as we continue to invest in our people, our capability, and the systems required to deliver complex infrastructure projects for our clients."
Joining Coffey's Senior Leadership Team, Smith will contribute to strategic decision‑making and guide the business through its next phase of development. His collaborative style and experience in multidisciplinary settings align closely with Coffey's values of integrity, teamwork and continuous improvement.
"Coffey has a strong reputation for engineering excellence and a clear ambition for the future," said Stuart. "I am looking forward to working with the leadership team to support the company’s growth strategy, strengthen its financial and operational foundations and help ensure the business is well positioned for the opportunities ahead."
Coffey said the appointment advances its aim to be a future‑ready organisation trusted by clients, chosen by people and relied upon by communities, as it continues to enhance communities through engineering excellence.
