Leitrim County Council has begun work on advancing affordable housing in the coming years under the Government's 'Delivering Homes, Building Communities' plan and any future housing strategy.
As part of this, the Council has launched an online interest survey focused on Carrick-on-Shannon.
The survey is intended for people who believe they may qualify to purchase an affordable home from the Council, including those who consider themselves a 'First Time Buyer' or a 'Fresh Start Applicant'. It takes around five minutes to complete via the Council's website.
This is not an application for affordable housing. It is an initial exercise to gauge potential demand and will help shape a future Affordable Housing Scheme for Carrick-on-Shannon. Any scheme developed will be publicised through Leitrim County Council’s media channels.
Information gathered will be used by the Council's Housing Department in line with its functions under the Housing Acts 1966–2015, Affordable Housing under Part 5 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009, and Section 96 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended by provisions within the Affordable Housing Act 2021.
There are currently no properties available to purchase under the scheme. Interest survey forms are available here and should be completed by Friday, 23 January 2026 at 4pm.
