Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown Explores Potential Redevelopment at Pearse Estate

Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council has announced it is investigating the potential for a future redevelopment project within the Pearse Estate in Sallynoggin.

The move is part of the local authority's broader strategy to maintain and upgrade housing stock throughout the county.

The Council has stressed that the project is currently at a very preliminary and exploratory stage. While various design options are being assessed, no formal approvals have been granted, no funding has been secured, and there is currently no set timeline for the completion or progression of any specific proposals.

To maintain transparency, the Council has issued letters to all residents in the area—including private homeowners—to clarify the scope of these early discussions. Currently, the exploratory work focuses exclusively on specific local authority–owned maisonettes within the estate. Not all properties in Pearse Estate are included in these considerations, and no final decisions have been reached regarding any individual home.

In a statement regarding the engagement process, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council said: "We are committed to ensuring that residents and the wider community will have opportunities to engage with the process when more detailed information is available, and while early notification may prompt questions or concerns, we wish to reassure residents that no final decisions have been made and that further updates will be issued publicly as this exploratory work progresses."

Once the preliminary plans are sufficiently developed, they will be presented to elected representatives and released for public review and consultation.

Local authority tenants or homeowners within Pearse Estate who have specific questions regarding their property are encouraged to contact the Housing Maintenance department on 01 205 4700.
