Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has congratulated Department for Infrastructure (DfI) teams after their work was recognised at a major industry awards ceremony.
The team behind the Moylinn Footbridge in Craigavon won the Infrastructure Project of the Year Award (over £5 million) at the annual Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) Awards Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, the work carried out to help 'keep Belfast moving' in the run-up to Christmas last year was highly commended in the Innovation category.
Minister Kimmins praised the efforts of staff involved in both projects, highlighting the collaboration and expertise required to deliver improvements to infrastructure.
She said: "Infrastructure is at the heart of everything that makes our society work but so often the planning, the engineering and the collaboration that goes into bringing projects to fruition goes unseen.
"I've seen for myself the positive impact the new Moylinn Footbridge has had in terms of providing safe and easy access for pedestrians and cyclists to Craigavon City Park as well as the nearby school and leisure centre.
"Similarly, a considerable amount of unseen innovative work and collaboration went on throughout 2025 to mitigate against the congestion previously experienced in Belfast city centre in the run up to Christmas. To have this recognised by the CIHT judges is really encouraging for everyone involved.
"Teams across the department worked together to deliver these positive changes in Craigavon and Belfast, and I'm pleased to see their efforts being recognised by their industry peers."
