Uisce Éireann is set to begin upgrade works in Rathmullan aimed at making everyday water services more dependable for customers.

The project will see more than a kilometre of old water mains swapped for modern pipes along Chapel Road in Kinnegar. The upgrade is designed to reduce bursts, limit service interruptions and provide a steadier supply for homes and businesses across the community.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local water network and ensure Rathmullan has a supply it can rely on.

Works will also include installing new individual water service connections from the public main in the road to customers' property boundaries and linking them to customers' supplies.

Traffic management will be clearly signposted, and access for residents and businesses will be maintained throughout the works.

Speaking about the project, Patricia Lowry, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "These works in Rathmullan will replace old and damaged water mains that have been susceptible to bursts, helping to deliver a more reliable water supply for the local community. By investing in essential upgrades like this, we are reducing the risk of unplanned outages and ensuring a more resilient network for the future."

Farrans Construction will deliver the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected in late summer.
