Uisce Éireann has commenced a program of essential reservoir cleaning works in the Tullyallen and Collon areas this week.
The maintenance project is designed to protect the long-term quality and reliability of the local water infrastructure.
To facilitate the project while maintaining service, Uisce Éireann has implemented several technical measures, including network adjustments and the installation of temporary bypasses. The core of the work involves the complete draining and cleaning of the reservoir serving the Tullyallen Public Water Supply. These operations are scheduled to take place between 7pm on Tuesday, 24 March, and 12am on Wednesday, 25 March.
During the cleaning process, water will be actively redistributed through the existing network to sustain supply. Once the maintenance is finished, the reservoir will begin a gradual replenishment process. This recovery phase can take up to 48 hours, during which time full system pressure will steadily return to the affected areas.
James O'Hagan of Uisce Éireann commented: "These works are essential to safeguard the quality and reliability of our water supply. While bypasses and network adjustments are in place to avoid major disruption, customers may notice temporary changes such as reduced pressure, slight discolouration, or supply interruptions. We are carrying out this work during the night so that impact is kept to an absolute minimum, and we thank customers for their patience while this important work is completed."
The utility provider, which is responsible for public drinking water and wastewater services across Ireland, noted that these upgrades are part of its ongoing commitment to developing critical infrastructure and enhancing the local environment.
