Coffey has been appointed to deliver Stage 1 of the Staleen Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Trunk Mains project, an important upgrade designed to maintain a safe and dependable drinking water supply across East Meath and South Louth.
Sourcing water from the River Boyne, the Staleen WTP currently serves around 70,000 people. With demand continuing to rise, targeted investment is required to strengthen long-term resilience and reliability across the regional network.
Undertaken on behalf of Uisce Éireann, the project will improve the transfer of treated water from the plant to key storage and distribution locations. By increasing pipeline capacity and reducing dependence on single supply routes, it will enhance network robustness and support future growth.
Stage 1 focuses on critical preparatory activities that will guide subsequent delivery phases. Coffey will complete extensive site investigations together with ecological and archaeological surveys to ensure environmental and heritage considerations are fully integrated into the project.
Concurrently, Coffey will advance detailed design for two strategic pipeline connections: from Staleen WTP to Donore Reservoir, and from the plant to the Duleek to Navan trunk water main. These links will provide a more flexible and resilient distribution network.
