Uisce Éireann is set to replace ageing and damaged water mains in Oola, Co Limerick, to improve the reliability of the local water supply.
This information will remain current until further notices are issued on the organisation’s Supply and Service Updates section.
Crews will install 4.8km of modern pipes along the R507 and N24, reinforcing the network and aiming to reduce interruptions for homes and businesses.
The existing mains have been prone to frequent bursts, leading to inconvenience for customers and complex repair operations for maintenance teams.
Welcoming the scheme, Brian McCarthy, Programme Manager in Uisce Éireann, said: "We know this upgrade will come as welcome news to the community in Oola, who have been facing water supply challenges over recent years. Our crews are looking forward to getting started, and providing a water supply people can count on. Its impact is felt every day – in every tap, home and community. By focusing on delivering that reliable supply, we continue to strengthen water service resilience for the people of Oola into the future. I would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and support while we deliver these essential works."
Works beginning next week also include installing new water service connections from the public main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and linking these to individual supplies.
Ward and Burke Construction will deliver the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion scheduled for September 2026.
