Uisce Éireann has completed the initial phase of works in Two Mile House, installing 4.2km of new water main to enhance local network capacity.
The next stage will begin in the coming weeks, with approximately 10.8 kilometres of pipeline to be upgraded between Two Mile House and Newbridge to support the town’s future expansion and development.
Part of Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development Programme, the upcoming phase is scheduled to commence in early April.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, TD, welcomed the project: "This is positive news for the community of Newbridge and Two Mile House. Upgrading the water infrastructure in the area will ensure the infrastructure needed to support the area's development.
"Public water and wastewater services is essential to facilitating housing delivery as reflected in our new Housing Action Plan, Delivering Homes, Building Communities. Continued investment is also essential to sustain and improve existing water infrastructure in local communities. This project will provide critical capacity to enable new homes and serve the needs of the community."
To limit local disruption, the works between Two Mile House and Newbridge will be delivered in phases.
The first section will start outside Two Mile House on the Corbally Road (L2032), progressing towards Harbour Road from 7 April until the end of May. A Stop/Go traffic management system will operate during this period.
Shareridge Ltd. will carry out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with overall completion expected by late 2027.
