Diageo has officially opened its Littleconnell Brewery in Co. Kildare, a significant boost to Ireland's brewing industry and sustainable manufacturing. Designer Group supported the delivery of the €300 million facility, which forms part of Diageo's near €1 billion investment in Ireland between 2020 and 2029.
The site will produce ales and lagers, including Rockshore, Harp and Smithwick's, and showcases modern industrial construction and highly efficient operations.
Sustainability is embedded in the design: the brewery is powered entirely by renewable electricity and is expected to avoid approximately 15,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year compared with a similar-scale facility. It also features advanced process technologies to reduce overall energy and water use, supporting Diageo's environmental targets.
Designer Group delivered key project elements including MV systems, M&E building services, process drainage, process electrical works, the boiler package and pipe racks. The successful execution reflected strong technical expertise, coordination and commitment by its teams throughout the project.
Large, complex programmes rely on close collaboration, engineering excellence and shared quality standards among delivery partners. Designer Group thanked Diageo, project partners and all teams for their professionalism, dedication and collaborative approach on this landmark build.
The company said it is proud to have contributed to the project's completion and looks forward to further strengthening its longstanding relationship with Diageo, one of its earliest and most valued clients.
