Uisce Éireann said water is being restored to customers in Templetney after crews repaired the damaged main, with supply returning across the network over the course of the evening.
A separate interruption at the Templetney Water Treatment Plant was fixed this morning, but some customers may continue to see reduced pressure until storage levels build.
Uisce Éireann's Pierce Faherty said: "We understand the disruption an unplanned outage like this can cause and would like to thank customers for their patience while crews worked to repair the burst."
Typically, normal service resumes within three to four hours of repairs being completed, although those at the end of the network or on higher ground may wait longer as the system recharges.
