Coffey continues to advance the Delgany to Blacklion (Chapel Road) Improvement Scheme, which is designed to provide safer, more connected travel for the local community.
Section 1 is now substantially complete, with a new HRA asphalt ramp installed at the Littlebrook Estate entrance and driveway and side-road tie-ins finished. This follows the earlier reinstatement of two-way traffic and the provision of upgraded pedestrian and cycling facilities.
Section 2 is progressing well, with current efforts focused on accommodation works and utility infrastructure. Notable milestones include near-completion of wall construction and stone masonry, comprising approximately 300 metres of stone-faced retaining and block walls; installation of 200 metres of drainage and sewer infrastructure at depths of up to 3.5 metres; more than 7 kilometres of new utility ducting; new ESB infrastructure now live with all properties transferred and redundant poles removed; installation of new public lighting columns along the route; and completion of a new 350‑metre watermain with property connections in place.
Coffey is working with utility providers to coordinate transitions to the new networks, enabling the safe removal of legacy services ahead of road construction. Phased delivery of the scheme will continue through to mid-2026.
