Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Pamela Kearns, has marked the completion of Phase 2 upgrade works at Kiltipper Park. She was joined by local councillors, Chief Executive Mr. Colm Ward, Director of Services for Climate Action Ms. Teresa Walsh, SDCC staff, members of the local community and representatives from Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates, Tim Austin Associates and ACS Civils Ltd.

Located where the suburbs meet the countryside in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains and bounded by the River Dodder, Kiltipper Park occupies a unique position in the county. It provides important habitat for a diverse range of bird species and is a valuable ecological resource on the edge of a major urban centre.

The Phase Two programme included extending the existing car park, upgrading footpaths and the northern pedestrian entrance, renovating hedgerows and installing SuDS swales. A new GAA pitch and two soccer pitches have been constructed with associated drainage, a winter bird food crop has been established to support local birdlife, and accessible picnic areas have been introduced so the park can be enjoyed by all.

Speaking at the launch, Mayor Kearns said: "This beautiful park offers an excellent amenity for walking or running and beautiful views of the city and the Dublin Mountains. The Dublin Mountains Way runs through the park, stretching alongside the River Dodder and then onwards around Bohernabreena Reservoir and through the Dublin Mountains … I am delighted these enhancements to Kiltipper Park have now been completed successfully and hope the park will be enjoyed by the local community and visitors to the area for many years to come."

This phase was funded by South Dublin County Council's three-year capital budget and supported by The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht through the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sports via Sports Capital Grants.

Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates and Tim Austin Associates completed the planning and design work, with ACS Civils Ltd delivering the construction.
