Motorists travelling in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown should expect ongoing disruption due to multiple road closures, roadworks and traffic control measures county-wide.
A temporary 50km/h limit continues westbound on the Wyattville Link Road between Cherrywood Avenue and the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road. This is to facilitate construction of the Wyattville Link Road underpass as part of the Beckett Link Road Project and will remain until 30 November 2026, or until works are finished.
The following temporary closures and traffic arrangements are proposed during August:
- Laneway between Blackrock DART Station and Blackrock Park: 24–28 August for ground investigation works.
- George's Avenue, Blackrock: 14 August for permanent reinstatement works.
- Green Road, Blackrock: 10–12 August, 10am–4pm, for gas works.
- Mounttown Road Lower, Dún Laoghaire: One-way system proposed 4 August–30 October under the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme. Northbound will be maintained; southbound traffic will be diverted.
- Brennanstown Road: 4–24 August for surface water drainage works.
- Dodder Road Lower, Rathfarnham: From 10 August for approximately seven days to complete cycle infrastructure and associated road works.
Road users should note the following active closures:
- R117 Dundrum Wood, Dundrum: Morning closure on 26 July, from 12.01am to 9am, to facilitate works at Dundrum Town Centre.
- Puck's Castle Lane and Murphy's Lane, Rathmichael: Until 9 August for road maintenance, 8am–6pm.
- Torquay Road, Foxrock: Until 26 July for gas works, 8am–11pm daily.
- Laneway linking Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney: 20 July–1 September for resurfacing.
- Brock's Lane, Dún Laoghaire: 20–24 July for resurfacing, 8am–6pm.
- Station Road, Killiney: Nightly 20–26 July for pedestrian crossing, drainage and footpath works, 7pm–5am.
Longer-term closures for major projects:
The following extended closures remain in place:
- Brides Glen Road, Shankill: Rathmichael Road to Mullinastill Road until 26 September 2026.
- Kellystown Road, Taylorsgrange: Harold’s Grange Road to Ticknock Road until 24 July 2026, 8am–6pm.
- Enniskerry Road, Kilternan: Kilternan Country Market to Our Lady of The Wayside Church until 28 August 2026.
- Laneway linking Marino Avenue East and Station Road, Killiney: Until 3 August 2026.
- Wyattville Link Road: Traffic management measures in place until 30 November 2026.
Expect delays at the following locations:
- M50 Junction 14 Link Road Scheme: Lane closures at the Leopardstown Road roundabout from 20–31 July. Two lanes closed overnight (10pm–6am); one lane closed during off-peak daytime hours.
- Crosthwaite Park: Pedestrian crossing and raised table works continue until 31 July.
- Utility and investigation works at: Dale View (Ballybrack), Highfield Park (Dundrum), Regem Maris (Dalkey Avenue), Highland Grove (Cabinteely), Priory Gardens (Stillorgan), and Old Bray Road/Brennan Road (Cabinteely). Traffic management will operate as required.
- Churchtown Road Upper: Traffic calming and footpath improvements continue until September.
- Kellystown Road, Rathfarnham: Patching and surface dressing works continue until 24 July 2026, 8am–6pm.
- Dundrum Road: Single-lane traffic management remains while boundary wall improvements continue until 28 August 2026, 7am–2pm.
Active travel and greenway projects:
- Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme: Traffic management will be in place on Mounttown Road Lower and Glenageary Road Upper from 4 August to mid-October 2026. Allow additional time if travelling in the area.
- Dodder Greenway – Ely's Arch Project: Construction is ongoing at the Orwell Road/Braemor Park junction. Further works are due to begin on 4 August at the Orwell Road/Dodder Road Lower junction.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is inviting submissions on a proposed signalised pedestrian crossing at the N11 Cornelscourt junction. The project aims to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Submissions are open until 3 August 2026.
