Uisce Éireann has imposed a Boil Water Notice on customers served by the Golden to Cashel Public Water Supply due to elevated turbidity levels in the raw water at Springmount Water Treatment Plant.
The measure, taken as a public health precaution, affects approximately 4,800 customers.
All consumers on the Golden to Cashel supply are included, covering Cashel Town, Galtee View, Boytonrath, Mantlehill, Castlelake, Golden Road, Cluain Orga, Caiseal na Ri and surrounding areas. A map of the affected zone is available.
Customers can check whether their property is impacted by using the Supply and Service Map on Uisce Éireann's website with their Eircode, or by calling the 24/7 customer care helpline on 1800 278 278.
Specialist drinking water teams are working, in consultation with the HSE, to resolve the issue and lift the notice as soon and as safely as possible. Until then, all water intended for consumption or other specified uses must be boiled and cooled before use.
Pierce Flaherty of Uisce Éireann said: "Public health is Uisce Éireann’s number one priority and we would like to assure customers that the notice has been put in place to protect public health. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to homes and businesses and would like to assure customers that we are working to resolve the issue and lift the notice as quickly and as safely possible."
