Dublin-based civil and structural engineering consultancy Will Rudd has reached a major milestone after being appointed to deliver its 75th agricultural underpass project in Ireland since entering the market in 2021.
The company said the achievement reflects the growth of its Irish operations, which now span public housing, education buildings and specialist agricultural infrastructure. It has also established itself as a leading provider of agricultural underpass design and delivery for farming businesses across the country.
Agricultural underpasses allow livestock to pass safely beneath public roads, linking fragmented land holdings without the need for animals to cross live traffic. The structures are installed beneath both local and national roads and are designed to improve farm safety, operational efficiency and day-to-day management.
Demand for the projects has been supported by the Department of Agriculture's farm modernisation schemes, which provide grant funding towards the construction of agricultural underpasses as part of wider efforts to improve farm infrastructure and safety.
Since establishing its Irish operation in 2021, Will Rudd has worked with farmers, local authorities and other stakeholders to deliver underpass schemes across Ireland, while also undertaking projects in the public housing and education sectors.
Eugene Sheehy, Associate at Will Rudd Ireland, said: "Reaching our 75th agricultural underpass project is a significant milestone for the business and demonstrates the confidence farmers continue to place in our team. We are the leading engineering firm in Ireland for this type of work.
"Many agricultural businesses operate across land holdings divided by public roads. Working directly with farmers, we are able to support them providing a practical long-term solution that improves safety, reduces disruption and allows livestock to move efficiently between fields.
"Every project presents its own unique engineering challenges, whether it involves a local road or a more national route. Our experience in this specialist area means we can guide clients through the process from initial feasibility and design through to delivery."
