Kane Group Wins Multi-Million-Pound MEP Contract

Construction News Image

Northern Ireland-based Kane Group has secured a multi-million-pound contract to deliver mechanical and electrical works as part of the redevelopment of Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

The contract, awarded as part of Sisk's redevelopment of the stadium, further expands Kane Group's portfolio of major projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe and builds on the company's long-standing relationship with the contractor.

Under the agreement, Kane will deliver the full mechanical and electrical installation package for the development, including a new 146-bedroom Radisson RED hotel and the redevelopment of the existing stadium stand.

The company said the project will showcase its integrated approach to mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) delivery, combining digital engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM), offsite manufacturing and end-to-end project delivery.

Kane's offsite manufacturing capabilities are expected to play a central role in the project, supported by the company's recently expanded 20,445-square-foot production facility. Manufacturing major MEP components off site is designed to improve quality control, reduce waste, minimise programme risk and accelerate construction timelines.

The redevelopment will be carried out within a live sporting venue, with Kane responsible for coordinating design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance services while working alongside the wider project team to minimise disruption.

Cathal McMullan, Managing Director of Kane Group, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen to deliver this significant redevelopment project. This award reflects the strength of our relationship with Sisk and confidence in Kane's ability to deliver complex MEP solutions through innovation, digital engineering and offsite manufacturing. Our integrated approach enables us to deliver greater quality, efficiency and programme certainty while supporting more sustainable construction practices. We look forward to working with the project team to deliver an outstanding facility ahead of the 2027 Ashes Series."
