Construction News Image

A new play park has officially opened in Ederney following the completion of a project delivered through Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme.

The new facility is one of 10 outdoor community spaces being developed across the district as part of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan. The programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), with match-funding provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

The Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme is designed to create accessible and inclusive community spaces that encourage recreation, physical activity and opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together.

The Ederney play park has been developed to provide a modern outdoor space that supports active play while offering a place for families and the wider community to meet and enjoy the outdoors.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, welcomed the completion of the project.

"We are delighted to see this fantastic new play park completed and now open for the people of Ederney. This represents a significant investment in high-quality, inclusive play facilities that will bring families together, encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen community spirit. We hope this welcoming new space will be enjoyed by children, families and residents for many years to come."

Chair of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Partnership, Councillor Thompson, said the project represented another step forward in delivering the local action plan.

"The completion of this project marks another important milestone in delivering the PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan. Through collaboration with local communities, we are creating shared spaces that promote inclusion, encourage new connections and foster positive community relations. We are delighted to see this new facility open and already making a positive contribution to community life in Ederney."
