Hawk's Cliff And Vico Baths: Repairs And Access Restrictions Update

Construction News Image

Upgrade works are largely complete, but damage from unauthorised access means further repairs, path resurfacing and temporary closures through late August, with new fencing due towards the end of September.

The original programme of works to improve the swimming area at Hawk's Cliff/Vico Baths was substantially completed at the start of August 2026.

During the summer, however, unauthorised access along the walkway between the Éire sign and the bathing area caused additional damage to the upper-level handrail. As a result, further repairs are required, including resurfacing the path and replacing 32 metres of damaged handrail. Access will remain restricted until the end of August, when the resurfacing is scheduled to take place.

New walkway fencing is expected to be delivered towards the end of September, after which installation can proceed.

Works to resurface the walkway from the Éire sign are underway and are expected to be completed by Friday 28 August. To facilitate the works, access from the railway bridge will need to be closed for periods while concrete pouring is underway. These closures may also extend into the evening. Advance notice will be provided before any access restrictions are put in place.

The project remains ongoing, and a further update will be issued once a confirmed completion date is known.
